In Conversation with Andrew McLellan from Ashwells of Stewkley
You're a landscape architect by profession, what exactly do they do and what kind of projects did you work on?
Landscape architects are there to create spaces through a process of design and functionality. These spaces range from parks and gardens, to residential layouts, public realm and much more. I worked mainly on residential projects and documentation for planning proposals.
What made your change career direction?
The work was dull and lacked value, to much cost cutting. The landscaping aspect was mostly left to the end of projects, rather than being an integral part and leading the design, to make spaces of value. My belief is that the industry could do with more role models and be given more value within the UK.
Tell us more about your business Ashwells of Stewkley - who are your clients and what kind of work do you do? Do you operate Nationwide?

We offer a Nationwide service on all transportation and event services. For our property maintenance services we mainly cover from Northampton to London.
What's the best piece of advice (business or life) anyone has ever given you?
I have two worthy of sharing...
Don't undervalue yourself - in all aspects of life.
It's also never to late to turn things around.
If you could invite any five people to a dinner party, who would you choose and why?
It would have to be the people I think would make me laugh the most - Peter Sellers, Chris Tucker, Ali G, Jackie Chan and one of my best friends.
When you're not working what do you do for fun?
I’m currently working on a car with a mechanic friend, Gary, that we’re hoping to take to Santa Pod. I also love playing the guitar and enjoy a good jam session with one of my best mate's Richard whenever we can.
